Mark of the Ninja Special Edition DLC Coming This Summer!

Mark of the Ninja Special Edition

Every since Mark of the Ninja was released, we’ve had numerous requests for more. The trouble is, we very intentionally built Ninja to be a complete experience, both in terms of its mechanics and narrative.

But you all kept sending us messages. Then we considered what a “Criterion Collection” version of the game might be like. And with that in mind, we’ve been putting together Mark of the Ninja Special Edition. Here’s what you can look forward to in the Special Edition:

- A new level, set in a flashback to the early life of Dosan (the enlightened tattoo artist) that will set the stage for the events that transpire in Mark of the Ninja.

- A new style of play, which includes a nonlethal takedown ability, and provides a hybrid of lethal and nonlethal approaches to the game.

- Two new items, one more geared to stealth and concealment and one a bit more direct. Both the items and the new play style will be available in the main game as well as the new level. (more details at a later date).

- Finally, we’ve added a ton of developer commentary to the main game. All the original levels will feature a number of commentary nodes that discuss various aspects of the game’s creation, anecdotes, at least two history lessons and other behind the scenes info from nearly everyone on the team.

- Developer commentary has been fully localized for English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Japanese. (Additional details below.)

For anyone who has already played Mark of the Ninja, we’re hoping the Special Edition will give them a reason to revisit the game with both new challenges and insights, much like you’d watch the director’s commentary of one of your favourite movies.

The Special Edition will be available as DLC on Xbox Live Arcade and Steam. It will be released this summer (price still TBD).

Additionally, the Special Edition will be playable in part at PAX East this upcoming weekend at booth #774. If you’re going to be in Boston, we’d love to chat with you and have you check out the game (along with Don’t Starve, of course)!

Thanks again for support us and our game, and we can’t wait to get the Special Edition out to you all!

Mark of the Ninja rated and available in South Africa

Mark of the Ninja has received its classification from the Film & Publications Board and is now available on Steam in South Africa. Many thanks to all our fans in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Pretoria and everyone else in SA for your patience.

And this is the last territory that Mark of the Ninja required ratings in, so it’s now fully available worldwide! Thanks again for the support and patiance.

Mark of the Ninja now available on Steam!

Mark of the Ninja just launched on Steam and it’s available here!

If you don’t have an Xbox or were just waiting for the PC version, the time has come! Please spread the word to any friends you know that might be interested, as we had a lot of requests for a PC version and we want as many folks as possible to know it’s out there.

Mark of the Ninja is now available on Xbox Live Arcade! You can download the full version of the game or the trial directly to your Xbox right here:

Honestly, we’re kind of blown away by the reactions. We had no idea what to expect, but we certainly didn’t expect this. The game is apparently trending worldwide on Twitter, we’ve had some amazing reviews like a 9.5/10 from OXM, a 93/100 from GamesBeat and a 9/10 from Eurogamer.

We just wanted to say thanks to everyone in the community who supported the game, who came to check out the game at PAX, who Twittered about the game and who told their friends about it. If you haven’t had a chance, check it out! We’d love to hear what you think.

Now, back to reeling …

Mark of the Ninja Text Adventure … and New Trailer!

Mark of the Ninja was announced in something of an unusual way- via text adventure. Now, just prior to launch, the text adventure concludes. And it might just include something special.

Play it right here, right now:

If you didn’t have a chance to play the first part, it’s still available here:

If you’re coming to PAX this weekend, be sure to stop by the booth (#682, part of the Indie Megabooth) and tell us what you thought of the text adventure!

New Game, Improved Forums & New Community Manager

We recently made some improvements to our community and how you can talk to us. Our support forums just got revamped to make it easier for you to chat with us and other members in the Klei community. You can see the new forums and register at

Also, we’ve hired a new Community Manager, Corey Rollins, who will be helping out with the forums, social media, our game micro-sites, and responding to your comments here on the blog. So we hope to be posting regular updates and answering as many questions from the community as possible!

In other news, we’re really excited to have recently launched the early beta for our newest game “Don’t Starve.” You get to play as Wilson; an esteemed Gentleman Scientist who has been trapped by a dastardly demon and transported to a mysterious wilderness world. You’ll need to help Wilson avoid danger and survive if he ever hopes to escape and find his way back home.

You can play this early beta of Don’t Starve in the Google App Store. It will load right in your Chrome web browser.
